Honeymoon in Bali

Planning an Unforgettable Honeymoon in a Romantic Bali Honeymoon Villa

In movies the best honeymoon scenes always take place on some far away tropical island. The sun is high in the bright blue sky; over a pure white beach and sparkling ocean. This is exactly the kind of experience you can expect from a Bali honeymoon.

When you choose to honeymoon in Bali, you aren't only getting one of the hottest beach locations in all of Asia; you're also going to find yourself entering a world of wonder and adventure. If you can tear yourself away from your honeymoon villa for any length of time, you'll find that there is wide variety of entertainment available on the island. From familiar pleasure such as arts, bars, restaurants and shopping, to the more exotic; like visiting temples, safaris, watersports and yoga.

Choosing the Perfect Location for your Bali Honeymoon

Whilst price maybe a factor in deciding where you stay on your honeymoon in Bali, you shouldn't let it be a deciding one. It's also worth considering how much time you will actually spend in your honeymoon villa?

The villas in Bali offer a great deal of privacy, with even the most modest ones providing everything a newly married couple could need to keep themselves occupied for a few days, they generally include facilities like fully fitted kitchens and private pools. If you can afford a fully serviced Bali honeymoon villa, then it's quite possible that like many newlyweds; you won't ever step outside the confines of your villa during your entire honeymoon in Bali.
If however, you plan for your Bali honeymoon to be more than just enjoying the private company of your new spouse, then location really is key. Take a look at our recommendations for the best locations for an unforgettable honeymoon:

Kuta Villa - Beach by day. Clubs by night.
Ubud Villa - Markets, Museums, Shows, Spas and Safaris.
Seminyak Villa - Art, Boutiques, Beaches, Spas.

The Cost of Having a Honeymoon in Romantic Bali

Kuta is generally the cheapest option for people renting a honeymoon villa in Bali. One bedroom self-service villas can be hired out for as little as $150 a night, though for just a little bit extra ($200-$250 a night) it's possible to get a very attractive semi-serviced honeymoon villa; that isn't located too far from the nightlife or the beach. There are some incredibly high end options in Kuta, but unless you particularly want to explore the Bali party scene, you're better off thinking about Ubud or Seminyak if you want to explore a more premium option.

If having a private enclosed pool is just an attractive and option as being near a beach, then Ubud is probably one of the most romantic places to honeymoon in Bali. From Ubud you have easy access to a wide range of interesting activities, without having to wander too far away from your honeymoon villa in order to indulge in them. The cultural heart of the island makes a wonderful tropical island retreat, providing the perfect experience for the couple who want to have that storybook Bali honeymoon that they will remember forever. If you do your research, Ubud can prove very cost effective with prices starting from just $250 a night for a semi-serviced private honeymoon villa.

Then for those who want to spend their honeymoon in Bali getting a taste of the high life, Seminyak has all the glitz and glam that the island has to offer, playing host to a mass of top end spas, shopping boutiques and gourmet restaurants. You can expect to pay at least $300 a night for a fully serviced Bali honeymoon villa with every-kind of modern convenience installed, but the price is nothing compared to the fairy tale Bali honeymoon memories you'll receive in return.

Jimbaran

Jimbaran is one of the most popular destinations in Bali for travelers. One of the main draws is the Jimbaran bay and the beautiful beach. However, there are plenty of other things to do in Jimbaran than visiting the beach.
Here is our list of things to do in Jimbaran.

1. Seafood barbeque on the beach

Eating fresh seafood from one of the warungs on the beach that serves grilled seafood right at the water’s edge at night is a Jimbaran must-do. There are clusters of seafood restaurants at each end of the bay, and a cluster in the middle. The menu is more or less the same in all of them. You simply pick what you like from the fish on display and pay by the gram.

No stay in Bali is complete without a visit to a Balinese spa or a massage. Jimbaran has its share of spas and among them are some of the most elegant on the island. Spas aren’t hard to find in Jimbaran, but they vary greatly in quality and cost. They can range from less than $10 an hour, to well-above $100. It’s important to note that price and quality generally goes hand-in-hand. For fairly priced massage treatments Opium Beauty is a popular option, whilst Bamboo Spa by L'Occitane is a popular high-end option.

4. Enjoy a sunset cocktail in on of Bali’s most spectacular bars

Around Jimbaran you find a couple of the islands hippest spots for a sunset cocktail. The Rock Bar (inside the Ayana resort), perched on the rocks above the Indian Ocean, has for long been the coolest bar on the Bukit Peninsula. Also, it has recently received competition from the UNIQUE Rooftop Bar (inside the Rimba resort and created by the same people as the Rock Bar). The bar offers spectacular views from its own infinity pool to the tree tops of the Uluwatu hills and the Indian ocean in the distance.

Get there early, around sunset, and you can watch the fishing boats unload their catches of red snapper, mahi mahi, squids, shellfish, and loads of other fish living in the waters around Bali. Getting there early comes with the added benefit of having the best selection of fresh fish to choose from.
You find the fish market at the northern most end of Jimbaran Bay.

7. Explore Jimbaran’s produce market

The produce market in Jimbaran is known as one of the best of its kind in Bali. The quality and the variety is excellent even though the market is relative compact. For the greatest variety and the best product you need to get there early, which is around sunrise. If getting up at 5 a.m. on your holiday doesn’t tempt you, the market is still a fun place to visit later in the day.

Pura Ulun Siwi is one of Jimbaran’s locale temples and it is found right in the heart of Jimbaran, near the located in the center of Jimbaran near the produce market. The temple is made out of black rock and dates back to the 18thcentury. Pura Ulun Siwi might not be as impressive as some Bali’s better known temples, but it is worth making a stop at.

The temple waters are known to have powers that scare of rodents and local farmers use water from the temple to protect and bless their fields.
10. Paint a pot at Jenggala Keramik

Jenggala Keramik Bali is a popular place to shop ceramics in Jimbaran, but it also has “Paint-a-pot” programs. Here, under guidance from Jenggala’s staff, you can paint mugs, bowls, plates, and cups.

Travel To Bali Island from U.S.

Known as the "happy island," Bali is an Indonesian island just 2 km off of the island of Java. The island is abundant with flowers, lush vegetation and smiling faces more than willing to welcome you to your temporary home. And since Bali is relatively inexpensive, traveling within the island is not likely to overtax your pocketbook; the most expensive part will most likely be the flight that gets you there.
Step 1
Get a U.S. passport, or if you already have one, check your passport's expiration date. According to the U.S. Department of State, travelers will not be admitted into Indonesia without six months' validity left on their passport. Additionally, you will need two empty pages in your passport to enter Bali. If your passport is set to expire in six months or less, you have less than two pages left in your passport, or don't have a passport at all, visit the Department of State's "Passports" website to get your passport in order.
Step 2
Book your travel. If you plan to fly into Bali, a number of airlines provide the transportation directly to the island via Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar, including Continental Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Qantas and Air Asia. If you book your flight through an online booking agent, type in the airport code "DPS" to book your flight to Bali. You also can get to Bali via ferry from Java, the main island of Indonesia. Ferries leave from Ketapang in Java several times a day and take you across the Lombok Strait to the western end of Bali. Typically, there is no need to reserve ahead of time -- just show up at the ferry dock and pay for the next crossing.
Step 3
Book your accommodations. From the exquisite mountainside accommodations at the Taman Wana Villas and Spa near the West Bali National Park to the affordable and accessible digs at the Stana Puri Gopa Hotel near the capital city of Denpasar, Bali offers a wide array of choices for hotels, guest houses and vacation homes. To narrow your search and save some money, consider bundling your travel and booking the rooms offered through the online agent you used for your flight, or browse the options provided by the "In Bali Hotels" website.
Step 4
Pack for warm weather and the occasional rainstorm. Bali's temperatures vary from the high 60s to the 90s F, so no cold weather gear is needed. If you're traveling between December and March, expect rainstorms, as this is the island's monsoon season.
Step 5
Complete your visa documents. According to the U.S. Department of State, travelers from the United States who are coming to Bali for pleasure can get a visa on arrival into Indonesia -- whether it be Bali or other islands. You will need to fill out a form at the borderand pay a $25 fee, and customs officials should issue you a 30-day visa on the spot.
